Stoke Speaks Out launched a new and improved website on 1st September.
The update has been enabled by resources developed as part of the Stoke-on-Trent Opportunity Area initiative Speech & Language project ‘Closing the Word Gap’.
The new site is full of tips, advice and activities to support speech, language & communication development for children under five. Resources for both parents, carers and professionals working with young children are easy to find with the improved layout.
The Opportunity Area has commissioned a small team of Speech & Language Therapists from Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust to support schools and settings to boost children’s speech & language development in the Early Years to make sure they get the best start in life.
During the Covid-19 pandemic the team have found innovative ways to continue supporting families, schools and nurseries as part of the Opportunity Area programme. Stoke Speaks Out was recently recognised by the AHA Esteem Awards for adapting their work to enable continued access to high quality resources.
The website update will be a legacy of the Department for Education funded initiative, which will continue to support families for many years to come.
